Alex Tomb (real name Alexis Toumpouris) has been in the electronic music scene of Cyprus performing, for a decade now. After realizing that he wanted to actually make a living based on making music that could withstand the pass of time and to be respected one day for his works, he left the beautiful island of Cyprus and went to the cosmopolitan city of London. There he studied a Bachelors Degree on Music Technology at the University of Bedfordshire. After the 3 years course he had the idea to deepen his knowledge, so he went to study at the Thames Valley University of London, where he got a Masters degree on Audio Technology. Apart from djing and producing, Alex has a very good and solid knowledge on subjects such as Ambient Recording, Multi-track Recording and Mixing for Surround, Music Composition, Non-Linear Recording, Music for Films, Digital Audio Interface Design for Music, Music Hardware Design, Sound Design, Independent Label Management, and many more.

Until now, Alex had numerous releases on various respected record labels including Fenou, Multivitamins, Elektrotribe, Darek, 3-B, Minimal and Melodies Music, and LGM. He also performed around Europe including Berlin, Essen, Valencia, and London.

Furthermore, he proudly holds the residency at the one and only Techno club in Cyprus, klubd (Klubd-Nicosia) for the fourth consecutive year, after it’s reopening in 2008. He is also the booking agent of the club for the last year. Artists that Alex played alongside and booked for klubd include: Cio D’or, Boris, Jens Zimmermann, Patrice Baumel, Shifted, Perc, Monoloc, Smear (Forward Strategy Group), 88UW, Sebastian Russell, Rossella, Claudio PRC, Giorgio Gigli, Lucy, Jonas Kopp, plus many more.

Breakdowns are my obsession…when minimal and mysterious melodies begin to sink through to your subconscious…hypnotizing, for as long as you can take it. I like to lead listeners through a trip, layering bass line over bass line into an abyss of obscurity.”
